A business-law firm built for owners.
BRANDT & FALK is a German partnership (PartG mbB) with offices in Munich and Berlin. We advise companies only — with a focus on owner-managed Mittelstand businesses between EUR 10 and 500 million in revenue, and on international investors dealing with German law.
The gap between Big Law and the generalist.
Listed groups have their panel firms. Consumers have the lawyer around the corner. Mittelstand companies — and the foreign investors who buy from them, sell to them or acquire them — often sit in between: their matters demand specialisation, but the structures of a large firm rarely fit an owner-managed business.
We built BRANDT & FALK differently. Eight practice areas; every lawyer focused on one or two of them. Every mandate is run personally by a partner, from the first call to the closing. And fees are agreed before the work starts, not after.
Unlike a classic full-service firm, we deliberately keep our scope narrow. What we cannot do at the required depth, we do not take on — and we say so openly.
Five principles. One clear boundary.
How we work
- One fixed partner is responsible for the mandate throughout.
- First response within one business day — as a firm commitment.
- Fee model and range are fixed before we start.
- Plain language: statute, deadline, business consequence, recommendation.
- Discretion: small teams, clear responsibility, short lines.
Who we work for — and who we don't
- Owner-managed and family-held companies (EUR 10–500 m revenue).
- Entrepreneurial families in succession and asset matters.
- CFOs and general counsel of German subsidiaries of foreign groups.
- International investors with projects in Germany (working language English).
- Not: consumer matters, traffic or family law without a business nexus, bulk debt collection.
“For an owner, a legal dispute is rarely abstract — it concerns the company, often a life's work. Counsel who understand that advise differently: closer, faster, clearer.”
Munich. Berlin. And a network on the ground.
Offices
- Munich (head office) — corporate, M&A, tax disputes, distribution.
- Berlin — restructuring, IT and data protection, employment, litigation.
- Representation before German courts nationwide; civil appeals to the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in cooperation with BGH-admitted counsel.
International network
Cross-border projects are coordinated with independent partner law firms in more than 20 jurisdictions — you keep one contact at our firm, while local law remains with locally admitted lawyers.
